My experience at Tandem was very enriching. Tandem takes a holistic approach to learn and values student satisfaction highly.

Learning a language during the pandemic was quite an exciting experience. I chose to begin my language journey by taking virtual one-on-one classes with professor Maite-who was amazing. She made learning virtually fun and interactive, and contextual to my life experiences and Spanish culture.

Once Spain’s travel restrictions we removed, I was able to take in-person classes in San Sebastián. The foundational Spanish that I learned with Maite made it easier for me to get around and communicate with locals. Tandem also placed me in a wonderful homestay ideally located -only a 3-minute walk from campus and a 2-minute walk to Zurriola beach. They also curated wonderful cultural activities led by highly knowledgeable professors. They also shared many travel resources on places to visit and options of what I could do in my spare time. At Tandem, I met student learners like me and was able to build a network and practice my Spanish outside of the classroom without judgment and in a safe co-learning environment.

At the end of my three weeks in San Sebastián, I felt confident in my language proficiency and will be continuing my language learning journey remotely! I owe my unique experience to all of the staff- Bernard, Ana, Nerea, Georgiana, Angel, Koro, Sara, and Carolina, and most of all -Maite!

I have already recommended Tandem as a language institution of choice if you want to learn Spanish virtually or in-person in San Sebastián to my friends. And If you are looking for a human-centered language institution that values not only the educational wellbeing of their students but their overall experience in San Sebastián, then you should choose Tandem too!

Corona regulations are being taken seriously, masks are worn, and the distance is kept. Despite this, the classes are still interactive and fun! Especially for people who have previous knowledge in Spanish, the courses offer a well structured and professional learning experience helping you to refresh on what you already know and advance even further. I can also recommend doing a mix of both small group sessions and private lessons! (the courses I did were B1 level)

I myself and other people I met had only positive experiences with the families you can live with. They are all very friendly people who offer yet another great opportunity to practice speaking Spanish. The accommodations are clean and comfortable and the prices are justified.

Additionally, I booked the surfing lessons. They were also a blast! The surf teachers are experienced, helpful and sympathetic. Already knowing the very basics of surfing, I could really improve and learn so much more! But also beginners can have fun starting from zero at the «Zurriola surf eskola.»

Both Tandem school and surf lesson where easy to combine and made up for a fun daily program!

I sadly only stayed for a week… To learn even more AND to have some time to visit the beautiful San Sebastian and even more so the amazing nature and culture of the Basque country, I suggest staying for at least two weeks!

Great experience with TANDEM School!
An intensive course for beginners is designed in a way that you can basically learn a level in 3 weeks. Every lesson you have a different tutor with quite different approach that makes the studying process very diverse.
Also the administration responds to all the requests from students to satisfy their needs. During 3 weeks in TANDEM they tracked my speed of learning and arranged the possibility to change the group to one that fit better and then switched my lessons to individual.

Over due review, but I just wanted to say that I had a great time here and learned quite a bit. I did a week of beginning Spanish lessons here last October while on vacation. I found the staff to be very competent and encouraging. You get a rotation of teachers, which kept things interesting. The guy who ran the program taught also, and he was a very talented language teacher in my opinion, I enjoyed his classes the most. Their style is to use little to no English. Even though I was just starting out, we were able to figure it out for the most part. Once in a while they$0027d have to go to English with me 🙂

I studied at Tandem for four months and had a great time! I went in with little to no knowledge of spanish and came out being able to hold any conversation and understand anyone. Each week we would filter through 2-3 teachers, all of which paid close attention to detail and were ready to help if needed. Tandem also offered a ton of activities during the week, showing you around the city, yoga classes, and my favorite pintxopote!
